Things to Know At the Start of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Whether you've played the first game or not, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has some surprises in store for everyone. Here are a few basics that it'll help to know from the start:

• Combat is unforgiving: Most enemies you encounter at the start of the game will have better equipment and combat skills than you. Challenge them at your peril.
• Appearances matter: If your character is covered in dirt and blood, NPCs will notice. They'll offer you worse prices, less information, and candid insults.
• Everything offers experience: Nearly everything you do increases your experience in a related stat. Talking to people increases your Speech, hunting increases your Survival, and reading books improves your Scholarship. Look for every opportunity to perform the actions that fit your playstyle.
• There are rules to follow: Guards and even villagers will notice when you don't act appropriately in a given situation. For example, walking around at night without a torch will attract the attention of guards, and villagers will regard you with suspicion. If anything goes missing, they'll accuse you.
• A sandbox with a linear story: You can complete most quests in multiple ways, but the main plot points will always play out the same way.
